Starling Games is an independent game studio founded by three friends who subsequently dropped out of college to make games together[4]. Their unique blend of body horror, tragedy, and fantastical imagery earned them fans and detractors alike[7]. Starling Games remained relatively unknown until the release of their breakaway success King Leer, which won several Game of the Year Awards[7].

In recent years the studio has been fraught with controversy, including online spaces blaming a fan’s death[?] on their games.

The future may look uncertain for the studio, but their fans are currently waiting their Starling Game’s next release, which early trailers revealed[7] would be a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

“And if you get to Heaven, I'll be here waiting babe. Did you get what you deserve?”

MEMORY LEAK is a psychological horror novel about an indie game dev studio being haunted by their work. Making games used to be their dream, but now it’s become their nightmare.

Inspired by the real stories of independent game developers, unfiction stories, and psychological horror games (such as Silent Hill). This 400+ page novel is available for download in multiple digital formats, including:

  • PDF - Most similar to what the print version of the book will be, perfect for small tablets or phones.
  • Large Print PDF - Same as above, but in larger print to make it easier in the eyes. The book has also been formatted for larger tablets or reading on a monitor.
  • Dyslexia-Friendly PDF - Same as the Large Print PDF but using the OpenDyslexic font for people with Dyslexia (such as the author of this book).
  • EPUB - Compatible with pretty much any modern device. Customize the font, margins, line spacing, and more. Perfect for your smartphone's built-in books app.

“Why is this FREE?”
In a capitalistic society, things labeled as free are seen as having no value—but that is simply not true. I have chosen to release this book as Pay-What-You-Want with no minimum so that people who would otherwise not be able to afford it still enjoy what I make.

Financial support is greatly appreciated. I have mouths to feed and bills to pay, but if you don’t have money to spare then no problem. Read the book! Have fun.

I want to review the indie books I find on itch.io, and I made my 1st review of Memory Leak!  Links:

I really liked the book a lot, and the stuff about memory loss and game dev legacies especially hit home for me due to my personal experiences. Looking forward to what you'll write next!

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Bez 💜

Okay, so I'm Cath, I'm from South America (from that country no one speaks Spanish). I've created this account just to comment here (but maybe I'll put up some of my own stuff one day). Been meaning to read your novels for a while, but couldn't for monetary reasons lol. Anyway, my gawd what was this, never been so gripped by a novel before (I don't usually finish reading in two damn days, okay!?). Also saw the twist coming, but definitely not like this. Anyway, whoa, just whoa.
