Iron Valley v1.2 is out!! ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿฎ


Hello friends of the Valley~ ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ…

Today marks the release of Iron Valley version 1.2! This update focused on improving the rulebook's text, clarifying mechanics, and adding some missing features. There are too many things to list, but here's a brief overview of what this update entails~

  • ๐Ÿ“ Now Professionally Edited! My editor, the lovely LadyKittyLynn, has helped me improve the quality of the text. There should now be a lot less missing words, typos, and commas out of place (thank you, Kitty!)
  • ๐Ÿค Improved Trading Mechanics! The move Let's Make a Deal has been reworked to make it a little less confusing and get you to the fun of trading faster. Please let us know if you have any feedback regarding this rework.
  • ๐ŸŽฃ A Clarification on Fishing/Foraging! Members of the community pointed out an inconsistency with the way foraging was treated in the game, so a new section has been added that allows you to fish out big catches worth a lot of (value). Now all that's left to do is to go out and catch the Legendary Fish!
  • โœ… Progress All Around! Another big shout-out to members of the community who pointed that some moves should be able to provide progress on hits. I completely agree with them, so several moves in the game now allow you to mark progress if success causes you to advance a promise.
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Community Resources! Everything from community made sheets to automatic oracles are actually listed in the book and they will continue to be hosted on my website, so there will be a place for you to enjoy the fruits of your fellow players creativity!
  • ๐Ÿž Bug-Fixing For Days! Aside from the multitudes of typos that are nowhere to be seen, several inconsistencies were taken care of in order to maintain the cozy tone of Iron Valley (for instance the starting promise "Get a Job to Pay the Bills" has been changed to "Get Settled into Your New House"). Thank you once again to everyone who pointed out these inconsistencies, I'm grateful to have so many people who understand what Iron Valley should be~ โ™ฅ

Iron Valley has come a long way from the Starforged Jam and I am incredibly thankful for your support, your guidance, your feedback, and the many stories you've made using my little game! I will continue to read your comments, answer your questions, and work to make this the best little game that it can be.

I have been loving this game over the past few days.

Question: How do you handle tournaments? Are there special rules or anything like that or are they player designed?

Example: For the fishing tournament day, how do the rules around "biggest fish" work?

My recommendation would be to use the promise system! Make a Promise to participate in the tournament, make moves to mark progress, and then Reap the Benefits to see how well you performed. You could also use oracles to see how other villagers did in the tournament. I hope this helps! ๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™€๏ธ
